Ruckstuhl is sponsoring the exhibition “Your shirt on my chair. Claudio Moser inszeniert von Harry Gugger”. On view May 1 â July 5, 2009 at Kunstmuseum Thun (Switzerland).
Your shirt on my chairâ â words from the song, âBright Redâ, by Laurie Anderson which so aptly describe the mood emanating from the photographs and video works of Claudio Moser (*1959 in Aarau): As concrete as they might be, there are a lot of unexpressed things hidden in them, so many stories can be invented associated with them.
Claudio Moser moves through the world as a traveller and flâneur and documents what he sees with his camera. In the process he is not involved in the sensational or anything particularising a place or a time â Moserâs works primarily show the familiar. This is however done with such precision and devotion to detail that it quickly becomes explicit, his rediscovery of the general is to be understood rather as turning to the image as such than as a programmatic act.
The works are staged by the architect Harry Gugger. If Moserâs imagery is shaped by an interlacing and a layering, Guggerâs course of action can be rather described as a âremoval of layersâ. By making the original appointment of the rooms of the former Grand Hotel as visible and sensible as possible, the rooms of the Kunstmuseum virtually become a backdrop. This enables an experience of Claudio Moserâs works that is not possible in a conservative hanging.
